Asamankese, Dec. 06, GNA - Enock Agyei, a 26 year old driver, charged with defiling a 15-year-old girl, pleaded for forgiveness when he appeared before the Asamankese Circuit on Thursday though he said he never had sexual intercourse with the girl.

Agyei had pleaded guilty with explanation but following his explanation, the judge, Mr Emmanuel Siame, entered a plea of not guilty for him.

He was then remanded in prison custody until December 16. Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri, prosecuting, told the court that Agyei had proposed love to the class six pupil and had since been looking for an opportunity to have sexual relations with her.

She said on November 21, both parents of the girl left home at Krofufrom to attend a funeral at Asamankese.

At about 2300 hours on that day, the accused went to the girl's house and engaged her in a long conversation together with her siblings. The prosecutor said at about 0200 hours, her siblings went to sleep leaving Agyei and the girl behind.

Agyei allegedly took advantage of the situation and had sexual intercourse with the girl on the veranda.

The prosecutor said on November 23, the parents of the girl returned home and she informed the father about what happened during their absence. The matter was reported to the police and a medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital and Agyei was later arrested. On interrogation the accused said he only had a conversation with the girl till they both started feeling sleepy, so she laid on a bench while he slept on the floor.

Agyei claimed that the girl later joined him on the floor but he denied having sexual intercourse with her.
