Driver fined four million cedis for traffic offence

Cape Coast Feb. 14, GNA - A circuit court at Cape Coast on Monday fined Robert Slippe, a 48 -year-old driver-mechanic four million cedis for various traffic offences.

Slippe who pleaded guilty to careless driving, negligently causing harm, driving without a valid licences and failing to report accident to police was convicted on his own plea.

He would go to prison for two year if he fails to pay the fine, and would also compensate the victims with two million cedis. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oheneba Boateng told the court presided over Mr Mustapha Logoh, that on May 12 last year, at about noon, Slippe was driving a Fiat bus from Ankaful near Cape Coast towards Cape Coast and on reaching Kakumdo, a suburb of Cape Coast, knocked down Lawrence Wellington, John Eshun and Felix Odei, who sustained injuries and were rushed to the Regional Hospital.

He said Slippe failed to report the accident to the police but was arrested three days later. During investigations it was detected that he had no valid driving licence.
