Driver goes to jail for defilement

Offinso (Ash), Aug 21, GNA- The Offinso circuit court on Wednesday sentenced a 21-year-old driver to seven years imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl at Kyekyewere in the Offinso District. Maxwell Forkuo, who pleaded guilty, told the court that the girl was his girlfriend.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Anthony Ansah told the court that on June 16, the victim went round Kyekyewere New Town selling kerosene.

He said Forkuo invited the girl to his house under the pretext of buying some of the kerosene and dragged the girl into his room where he forcibly had sex with her.

Chief Inspector Ansah said the girl did not report the incident to her guardians until July 8, when she started feeling abdominal pains and told her parents of the incident.
