Driver granted 50 million cedi bail for careless driving

Cape Coast, Sept. 16, GNA - A 54-year-old driver, Yaw Oduro, was on Friday granted a 50 million cedi bail by a circuit court at Cape Coast for careless driving and negligently causing harm to 11 persons. He pleaded not guilty and would reappear on September 27.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oheneba Amoako-Boateng, told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh, that on September 25 last year, at about 11 hours, Oduro was driving a Mercedes Benz bus from Kumasi towards Cape Coast with some political party supporters on board. He said on reaching the Yamoransa Lorry Park, the vehicle veered off the road and ran into a nearby chop bar seriously injuring one Madam Kande Sani and Mr Ekow Nkrumah both of who later died on admission at the Central Regional Hospital.

He said nine others, some on the vehicle and others within the Lorry Park were injured and were treated and discharged at the Hospital.
