A Kpando bound mini truck from Ho Dzolokpuita-Fume route in the Volta Region have been involved in a serious accident.
The truck, which was reportedly loaded with cartons of Heineken beer, crashed Saturday, December 8, 2018.
Eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident, described the incident as life-threatening one.
According to them, the Kpando bound truck somersaulted on one of the sharp curves after failing its brake when descending the stretch between Biakpa and Fume.
They said the noise from the crash and the position of the truck, which was upside down, alarmed the few onlookers.
To their surprise and delight, they found the driver who was the only occupant alive, while the truck appeared mangled on many sides with broken windscreens and windows.
They described the driver’s escape as a miracle considering the near fatal nature of the accident.
Some residents and users of the road said although the Ho-Fume road is one of the best in the country, the spot was gradually becoming an accident prone zone, due to its dangerous slopes and curves.
The Motor Transport and Traffic Unit of the Police, who confirmed the accident, advised drivers to be careful and respect speed limits on that portion, especially first-time users.
