Kumasi, Jan 9, GNA=96 A 22-year-old driver, Kofi Amoako was on Monday remanded in prison custody by a Kumasi circuit court for causing harm to Steven Yeboah, a 16-year-old pupil. Amoako, who is believed to be involved in other series of offences, will re-appear on January 30 whilst the police continue with the investigations.

Giving the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Comfort Kyei-Baffour told the court presided over by Madam Wilhemina Hammond that both the complainant and the accused persons reside at Agric-Nzema in Kumasi.

She said on January 12 last year, Yeboah accompanied his father to his piggery farm where they saw Amoako and a friend whose name was not given cutting firewood near the farm. The prosecution said the father who had once been attacked by a gang which included Amoako was again pounced on by the accused who hit him with a piece of firewood, while the friend also damaged his vehicle. Chief Inspector Kyei-Baffour said later in the day, Yeboah who had gone out to fetch water was chased by Amoako who slashed him with a cutlass on his back.

She said the attack on Yeboah was reported to the Suntreso police who issued medical form to the victim to attend hospital. The accused then went into hiding until he was arrested by the police last month.
