Driver’s mate defiles minor

The Ashaiman branch of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) has arrested a 20 year driver’s mate, for allegedly defiling a 3 year old girl at Newtown, an Ashaiman suburb.

Kwame Baffoe according to Ashaiman DOVVSU Coordinator, ASP Jennifer Bolah reportedly admitted the offence shortly after he was identified and arrested by the victim’s mother with support from other residents of the area.

He however denied defiling the victim when he arrived at the offices of Ashaiman DOVVSU in the company of the victim’s mother and relatives.

Narrating the incident to DAILY GUIDE, ASP Bolah noted that the victim lived at Ashaiman Newtown with her parents while the suspect, lived at Saaki near Michel Camp.

She continued that Baffoe, a driver’s mate sometimes slept in a friend’s barbering shop located near the victim’s home.

The victim (name withheld) was left home in the care of other tenants on September 28 while her mother went to visit her older brother in the same neighborhood when the unfortunate incident occurred, she said.

Baffoe realizing the absence of his victim’s mother lured her into the friend’s shop where he defiled her after which he warned her not mentioned it to anyone or else she would die.

Later in the evening when the woman was bathing her daughter, she detected that the little girl cringed in pain anytime she tried to wash her genitals.

This according to the ASP raised the mother’s suspicion compelling her to question her daughter as to what the problem was.

The victim narrated her ordeal at the hands of the mate after which she led her mother to the barbering shop. The mother reportedly confronted the barber who flatly denied defiling the daughter.

During the confrontation, Baffoe emerged at the scene and was quickly identified by the victim. He was immediately arrested after he admitted to defiling the three year old and was subsequently handed over to the Ashaiman DOVVSU.

Baffoe according to officials at the unit is currently under investigation for committing a similar offence in the same area. He was reportedly arrested after he defiled a 7 year girl but was granted bail when it became clear that his accusers could not provide ample evidence against him.

The driver’s mate according to ASP Bolah will this time around be arraigned before a law court as soon as investigations into the matter were complete.
