Mpraeso, July 20, GNA - The Mpraeso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Kwabena Assuman-Adu, has remanded a driver's mate for abducting and defiling a 14-year-old JSS student.

The mate, Yaw Darko, 18, pleaded not guilty to two counts of abduction and defilement and is to re-appear on August 4. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Alex Gyamera Acheampong told the court that on April 18, the accused met the victim and her sister at the Nkawkaw Main Market and convinced her to accompany him to Kwahu Tafo to collect some money to help settle her school fees.

He said the victim obliged and followed the suspect to the destination where she was locked in a room and sexually assaulted over night.

Inspector Acheampong told the court that the following day, the accused brought the victim back to Nkawkaw and warned her never to disclose the affair to anyone or risk death.

He said five days later Darko again went to the victim's house and managed to convince her to follow him to Atibie-Amanfrom, where he allegedly kept her for three nights during which he sexually assaulted her.

The prosecutor said a witness informed the parents of the victim and assisted them to arrest Darko.
