Driver's mate remanded for defiling a seven-year-old pupil

A driver’s mate Kodjo Donkor has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling and inserting his fingers into a seven year old pupil’s genital organ.

Donkor aged 24, charged with defilement and indecent assault, pleaded not guilty.

The victim, whose medical condition was deteriorating is said to be on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as a result of the act. The court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava remanded Donkor into police custody to reappear on September 13.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah, told the court that the victim and her mother reside at Taifa Burkina together with the accused person.

She said the victim’s mother is a trader who leaves the house early in the morning and returns late in the evening and that the complainant was the victim’s uncle.

According to the prosecutor, about two months ago, while the victim’s mother was away, the victim went to the living room to watch television and Donkor joined her.

Donkor took advantage of the mother’s absence and had sex with her and also inserted his fingers into her vagina.

The prosecution said despite the several ordeals the victim went through, she failed to inform her mother because she was afraid.

The victim’s mother, however, found some changes in the victim’s vagina and when she quizzed her, she mentioned Donkor as the one who had been abusing her sexually and inserting his finger into her vagina.

A complaint was lodged with the Police who issued a medical form to the victim for treatment.

Prosecution said the victim was sent to Atomic Hospital, where she was treated.
