A 19-year-old driver’s mate who stole quantities of mobile phones from his brother’s shop has been remanded into police custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court.
Kelvin Biney is said to have broken into the shop at Apatrapa, a suburb of Kumasi, and stole about 10 pieces of the phones valued at GHc 10,740.00.
His plea was not taken and would reappear before the court presided by Mr Johnson Abbey on May 28, this year.
Police Inspector Joseph Nyame told the court that the accused and the complainant were relatives living in the same house.
He said on April 12, this year at about 0600 hours, the complainant went to the shop and detected the theft.
Mr Nyame said a report was made to the Abuakwa Police and in the course of their investigations, Kelvin was arrested.
Inspector Nyame said during interrogations Kelvin admitted stealing the phones and that he gave them to one Osei Kofi.
He led the police to Osei’s house and six of the phones were retrieved.
The prosecution said he was later charged and brought before the court.
