A 17-year-old driver’s mate has appeared at an Accra Circuit Court for robbery. The driver’s mate is alleged to have robbed one Aganda Cecilia of her hand bag containing one mobile phone, GH¢ 200.00 and other personal belongings.
The accused person was, however, remanded by the court, to reappear on June 20, for the investigator to be able to ascertain his actual age.
Prosecuting, Chief Superintendent Duuti Tuaruka told the court that the complainant is a factory attendant and lives at Tabora Alhaji race course, while the accused is a driver’s mate residing at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
He said on May 24, at about 2330 hours, complainant was looking for a car to pick her sick sister to the hospital. Chief Superintendent Tuaruka said the complainant joined a taxi with three young men already on board, including the accused person.
He said on their way, one of the young men at the back of the car snatched her and other personal belongings and pushed her out of the moving taxi and sped off.
The prosecution told the court that complainant sustained injuries on her left hand and face, and sympathisers around who heard the unusual noise and saw the act from the taxi, chased and arrested the accused person.
