'Drug' MP Linked To Terrorists?

According to a local radio station, Joy FM, United States investigators are probing possible links between Hon. Eric Amoateng, the member of parliament (MP) for Nkoranza North busted for drugs, and an Islamic terrorist network.

Amoateng, a member of Ghana's ruling party, was arrested in the US in connection with drug trafficking and the investigation into his possible links with a terrorist network could add a different dimension to the case against him.

Hon. Amoateng, tagged with prison number 63795053 in the Metropolitan Detention Centre, and an accomplice were arrested on Saturday, November 12, at a Staten Island storage facility for allegedly importing heroine into the US.

Further investigations led to the arrest of 12 other Ghanaians in Canada and the United Kingdom.

A reporter for the radio station, filed a report from New York that, some of those arrested are on the US government?s terrorist list.

According to the reporter, names of some key Ghanaian politicians have also been mentioned.

The names of those politicians are yet to be made public, but it is been alleged that monies were transferred into their accounts after previous deals carried out by the MP.
