Durbar on Constitution Review held at Ntiribuoho

Ntiribuoho (Ash), Oct.12, GNA - A consultative meeting to collate views of the operation of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana has been held at Ntiribuoho in the Afigya-Kwabre district. It was organized by the District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the Constitution Review Commission.

In attendance were chiefs, members of the unit committee, assembly members, teachers, religious and youth groups Mr Eric Nyarko, a resource person of the Commission in Accra, said the aim for the review was to remove contradictions and ambiguities and supply omissions to make the constitution meet the hopes and aspirations of the people.

He said the exercise was to create an open and receptive avenue for people to participate in a debate on all issues that affect their lives and livelihoods.

It is also to create a broader and deeper framework for managing the executive power so that it does not become dysfunctional. Mr Herbert Kyeremateng-Boateng, Assistant Civic Education Officer of the District, urged the people to observe their social and political responsibilities.

He said the government was committed to bridging the gab between the rural and the urban centres and should therefore honour their tax obligations to enable it achieve its objectives. 12 Oct 10
