Akyem Anyinasin to Akyem Old Tafo road in Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region in recent times has become breeding grounds for armed robbers due to its bad nature. Commuters are not able to ply the road due to fear of robbery, especially in the evening.
Gifty Twum-Ampofo, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency and the Deputy Minister of Education In Charge Of Technical And Vocational Education And Training (TVET) has assured the people of Akyem Anyinasin and its environs of maximum security and good roads.
She made this pronouncement when she visited the bereaved family of the late Mr Richard Boateng, a victim of the robbery incident that took place on Akyem Anyinasin to Akyem Old Tafo road at around 8pm on 29th January, 2020, that led to Mr Richard Boateng’s death from gunshot leaving two others in critical condition.
“I sympathize with you bereaved family, have been assured of more police personnel to help patrols in the constituency today and also the deplorable road is going to have a facelift as soon as possible because the contract being awarded has reached the office of the Public Procurement Authority for onward processing.”Mrs Gifty Twum-Ampofo explained.
She, therefore, charged the police to frequent patrols on that stretch of the road to avert future robbery.
She was accompanied by Owusu Twum-Ampofo, MCE for Abuakwa North and other authorities.
Meanwhile, the body of the late Richard Boateng has been deposited at New Tafo Government Hospital pending autopsy whilst the two others are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
The New Tafo Police Command has initiated investigations into the matter
