Mr Richard Osei Kwasi, a Sunyani-based businessman, has called on the newly appointed Electoral Commissioner to be firm so as to give more credence to the feminine course.

He urged the Electoral Commission (EC) Boss to play strictly by the rules of the game to affirm that Ghanaian women could perform well when put at high position of trust.

Mr Osei Kwasi, popularly known in the Sunyani municipality and business circles as “Morrow” made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani on Friday.

He said the commitment of women in home management and social activities like funerals, weddings, church programmes and education clearly depict their worth.

“I believe she can do the work, if she gets the needed co-operation and support from both government and the entire Ghanaian citizenry,” he said.

President John Dramani Mahama appointed Mrs Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei, previously Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education as Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan retired on June 18, after 22 years of service as the EC Boss.

Mr Osei Kwasi said for the President to appoint Mrs Osei to the high position shows her capability and commitment to duty and that she could surmount all challenges that might come her way.
