Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa has outlined the procedures and guidelines for the special voting exercise scheduled for Monday, December 2, 2024.

During a press briefing on Friday, November 29, 2024, Jean Mensa emphasised the Electoral Commission's readiness and pointed out directives for the special voting process.

According to the EC Chairperson, all voting centers will be staffed with eligible Electoral Commission officers.

She also encouraged all special voters to ensure smooth operations at the centers.

"It is important to note that each special voting center will be manned by five well-trained EC officials, including the presiding officer, the name reference list officer, the verification officer, and the ballot issuers for both presidential and parliamentary ballots.

"A portion of the statement of poll and the declaration of results form, popularly known as the pink sheet, will be completed during the voting process. However, the remaining portion will be filled out after the counting of the votes, combining the results of the special voting with those of the main election at the constituency collation center," she explained.

Jean Mensa further reminded voters of the importance of the special voting day, particularly those in the media, security agencies, and other electoral officers.

"We would like to take this opportunity to urge all voters, particularly our media personnel, security agencies, and electoral officers who registered for the special voting, to remember that Monday, December 2, is the date for the special voting. We entreat them to visit the designated centers and cast their votes in an orderly manner," she said.

Jean Mensa also expressed confidence in her team's preparedness and ability to deliver a seamless voting process.

"The EC has trained its staff, and we are confident that they will uphold the high standards we have set for them," she mentioned.

The special voting is designated for voters in various public and security service sectors who will be unable to vote during the main general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
