The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured Ghanaians of its commitment to ensuring a credible and efficient collation of election results by appointing well-qualified individuals to oversee the process.
Speaking at a press conference held at the EC headquarters on November 29, 2024, Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Commissioner of the EC, highlighted the measures taken to guarantee professionalism and transparency in the collation process.
“The commission has appointed collation officers at the constituency and regional levels to assist the returning officers and the regional collation officers in the performance of their functions,” Dr. Asare stated.
He explained that the appointments were in accordance with Regulation 23B of CI127, which empowers the EC to recruit personnel to support returning officers.
“Per CI127, regulation 23B allows the commissions to appoint officials to assist the returning officers. The coalition officers will work under the supervision of the returning officers, and the returning officers also work under the supervision of the district offices.
“We advertised for the positions for people with a background in statistics, accounting, finance, and other related quantitative areas to apply. Those who were selected are well qualified for the job,” he added.
According to him, this initiative aims to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process and uphold the integrity of the election results.
The EC has reiterated its dedication to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections nationwide.
