The Electoral Commission (EC) has set the date for fresh nominations for parliamentary election in the Asutifi South Constituency.
This follows the notification of the Commission of the death of the New Patriotic Party candidate, Professor Philip Adjepong Amoah. A release signed by Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, Chairman, EC, said parliamentary election shall take place at the constituency on Wednesday, January 3, 2000, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
It added that nomination of candidates shall take place at the constituency centre at Hwidiem on Wednesday, December 20, 2000, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
According to the release, this is in accordance with section 11(4) of the People Law, 1992(PNDCL 284) and Regulation 15 of the Public Elections Regulations, 1996 (C.I. 15).
