The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is expected to address parliament within the last week of October.
Even though no specific date was announced, Class FM’s parliamentary correspondent, Ekow Annan, reports that Mrs Charlotte Osei is expected to brief the house on preparations by the commission towards the December 7 general elections before Friday, October 28.
Majority leader Alban Bagbin, who addressed the house on Friday, 21 October on the schedule for the business for the house, added: “The EC will have to come and meet the committee of the whole and we have programmed that one.”
Meanwhile, the Business Committee of parliament has programmed the house to extend its sittings to include Mondays.
This, it explained would help the house to complete its business before the third meeting of the fourth session of the sixth parliament ends. With a few weeks to elections, the house has considered this move in order to deliberate on bills before the house closes.
Mr Bagbin urged members “not only to attend in their numbers to arrive on a resolution but also be prepared to work for longer hours”.
