The Mion District Office of the Electoral Commission, as of Friday, June 28, registered over 800 voters as part of the ongoing limiter voters’ registration exercise.
Mr Prince Akagbor, Registration Supervisor, Mion Office of Electoral Commission, who announced this, said so far, the registration center did not encounter any challenges.
He was speaking when Mr Mohammed Abdul-Aziz, Member of Parliament for Mion visited the registration center at Mion to assess the ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise.
However, some prospective registrants at the center complained that the process to get registered was slow such that not all of them got registered in a day as others had to come another day.
Mr Abdul-Aziz, therefore, reiterated the call by the National Democratic Congress for the Electoral Commission to hold the registration exercise at electoral areas to capture all prospective registrants.
He said the large numbers of prospective registrants at the center and the financial burden they incurred to access the registration center showed that the district-level registration was not the best to capture all prospective registrants in the communities.
