The Electoral Commission has said it has completed its regional and national reviews of the 2016 December Elections.
The exercise which is constitutionally mandated will assist the Election Management Body(EMB) assess its own performance in the last elections against previous ones to help the commission forge ahead in the conduct of elections in Ghana.
The report, according the Chairperson of the Commission is in its documentation stage and will soon be made available to the public.
“So far this year, we’ve done reviews at all the regions to find out what were the challenges? what did we do right? and what did we do not so well,what can we learn from the previous elections so that we ca improve on the next elections.
“we’ve also had our national review meeting. So now what we are doing is documenting all that happened in the elections, the good practices that we’ve started that we need to continue, the areas where we’ve had challenges we are looking at internally at how we can improve this and make sure that the next elections are even better.
“Its going to be a report. There are other electoral commissions around Africa who are also asking for it. Infact beyond Africa we’ve had requests for some of the things that we did and the implications and impact of those things because Electoral Commissions we’re always learning from each other. We also go to other Elections to observe, we get their reports and we learn from them and what we think is good we institute in Ghana.”
