The Electoral Commission (EC) is expected to release the biometric voters register today. The decision comes less than a month to the December elections.
The EC promised to release the register to the parties today at an Inter Party Advisory Committee held last week.
Members of the various political parties have stated that the decision to release the biometric register just three weeks to the general elections has caused a great deal of discomfort among the political parties and Parliamentary candidates who need the register to know the dynamics of voters at polling stations in their constituencies to enhance effective campaigning.
Abu Forgor, the National Organizer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) said it is better late than never adding that the party would be pleased if the register is released today.
The Deputy General Secretary of NDC, George Lawson, however told XYZ News that some parties which will not receive their registers today must exercise patience.
But Director of Elections for the NPP, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah thinks otherwise.
According to him, the delay by the EC to release to the register has caused a lot of problems for the NPP on the campaign trail.
“It’s been long overdue and it has caused some problems and challenges on the campaign terrain”.
