Kwamekrom, March 12, GNA - The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has launched a three-month pilot project, aimed at minimizing the incidence of over-reading of meters and over-billing of customers countrywide.

Using a portable device, known as Data-Logger, purchased from India, the company will achieve accurate reading of meters to produce customers' bills.

Mr Richard Akumey, Volta Regional Marketing Officer of the ECG, who made the announcements at a meeting with customers at Kwamekrom, in the Biakoye District, added that, if found successful, the project will be extended to other parts of the country to change the old system.

Answering questions from customers, the Marketing Officer warned against the dangers of illegal connection of electricity in its various forms and the use of second hand appliances, commonly known as "home use". Mr Akumey is currently touring the region and meeting with customers and offering education as well as studying their grievances for redress.
