The raging controversy following plans by government to privatise the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is far from over.
In the latest move to justify the action, Minister of Finance Seth Terkper has revealed that the privatisation of the power distributor will inure to the benefit of the country and therefore insist there is no turning back.
Staff of the company are opposed to the decision, but Mr. Tekper revealed that government will follow through its plans of allowing private participation in some aspect of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Speaking to Journalists on Wednesday, he said the move is aimed at strengthening the ECG and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo).
“So it is also about positioning, it’s not just about current issues that are a wider contest. Discussions have been quite fruitful up to this point,” Seth Terkper said.
