EGLE leader demands apology from the police

The leader of the EGLE party, Danny Ofori Attah is demanding an unqualified apology from the police administration for invading his privacy. Ofori-Atta says the Police had no justified course raiding his house yesterday in search of arms.

A team of Police personnel from the Police Headquarters on Thursday stormed the residence of Mr. Ofori-Atta in search of arms suspected to be stashed in the house. The Police say they were acting on a tip-off.

The operation yielded nothing except a single barred pump action gun, which according to Mr. Ofori-Atta, is licensed. Ofori-Atta said that the search in his apartment was unfortunate and smacks of intimidation. He said he suspects the search is to silence him especially when his party just came out of a convention.

He said the Police?s action was an infringement on his rights and as such they must render an unqualified apology for their action. The Police?s raid on Mr. Ofori-Atta?s residence came just two days after a similar raid on the residence of the last commanding officer of the erstwhile 64 infantry regiment, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey.

The Police arrested four people from that operation on the suspicion that they were throwing stones into the yard of the electoral commission?s offices, which is just nearby
