The Economic and Organised Office (EOCO) on Thursday appeared before the Judgment Debt Commission to tender documents on investigation it conducted into certain payments made by the state.

The payments were in respect of compensation to the flooded area of the Volta River Basin such as PAI, Makango, Apaaso, Ahemandi and Kete Krachi.

Madam Jaclyn Avotri, a representative of EOCO, tendered two documents in relation to the investigation conducted into the compensation payment to the PAI and Makango community, promising to tender the remaining documents at a later date.

Mr Emmanuel Tetteh Martey, Acting Corporate Estate Manager at the Volta River Authority, also appeared before the Commission to tender documents on compensation paid to farmlands and resettlement schemes during the construction of the Akosombo Dam.

He, however, denied a media publication in June which quoted him as saying that 8,000 people were affected during the construction of the Dam in the 1960s, saying the figure was rather 80,000.

Mr Justice Yaw Appau, the Sole Commissioner of the Judgment Debt Commission, blamed the error on the printer’s devil and duly apologised.

Mr Michael Abieteh Abbey, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Highways Authority, who was to tender documents to the Commission on certificate of payments in respect of contracts that were awarded to the Construction Pioneers from 1990 to 2012, provided certificates in relation to the payment made to Briwa road, Rawlings Park road and Obuasi town roads, promising to present the rest at a later date.

Mr Seth Mensah Dumoga, Director of Legal Services at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, presented to the Commission the site plan of the 10,000 hectares Aveyime Cattle Ranch.

He, however, failed to produce documents relating to the Delta Food Limited versus the Republic of Ghana, asking for more time to enable him look for those documents.

The Commission gave Mr Dumoga July 30 to produce the documents. GNA
