Ecobank Ghana as part of efforts to facilitate digitalization of the Ghanaian economy in order to facilitate development has partnered with government to train about 3000 young Ghanaians in digital marketing and entrepreneurship.
The training which is in collaboration with the National Youth Authority, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Accra Digital Center will engage a critical mass of young people who will be equipped with the requisite technology-driven entrepreneurial skills to use the internet, especially social media to market their products and services as well as start virtual offices in a bid to reduce unemployment in Ghana.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, the Regional Head of Consumer Banking, Tara Squire said Ecobank as a financial institution has set an aggressive agenda to ensure that a hundred million Africans transact businesses financially and this can be achieved by using the various digital platforms available.
“We are here to tell you that on your social media pages, you will be able to accept payment directly into your bank accounts via the initiatives that we’ve put in place and the training we are going to help impact” he said.
He said the training programme is an agenda of entrepreneurship which will help government’s agenda to ensure that the unemployed youth get employment and salary in a structured way.
“As we hold hand with the National Youth Authority, our aim is to help up-skill because we are going to be part of the training programme to equip young Ghanaian youth with digital finance and digital marketing skills” he stressed.
Ecobank Ghana has offered to hire the 3,000 participants who have been selected for a three-month training program in online digital marketing and entrepreneurship.
The training programme is targeted at persons between the ages of 15 to 35 with a minimum knowledge in Information and Communication Technology across all ten Regions of Ghana.”
