Education Director appeals for teachers

Nkoranza (B/A) Feb. 7, GNA - Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, had advised government and policy makers to consider the plight of teachers and motivate them to render effective and selfless services towards the promotion of quality education in the country.

Addressing newsmen at Nkoranza, Mr. Agyemang-Badu said since education was the foundation of the nation's development there was the need for teachers to be given better attention and care so that they could perform to expectation.

He said teachers, particularly those serving in deprived areas faced accommodation problems and called on parents and other stakeholders to help solve them.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu commended the government and the district assembly for constructing teachers' bungalows in some communities in the district and appealed to NGOs to augment government efforts in providing quality education.

He appealed to teachers in the district to redouble efforts to improve the standard of education. Mr. Kwaku Amoah-Tutu, Assistant Director in-charge of schools inspection, urged teachers to take stock of their activities last year to help them to improve their shortcomings.

He called on school management committees, parent teacher associations and Assembly Members to support educational programmes in the communities.
