Accra Dr Christina Amoako-Nuama, Minister of Education, today urged personnel of the Ministry to open up to the media and the public. "Information flow should be maintained so that the public would know more about us. If we are shirking our responsibilities they will keep us on our toes," she said. Dr Amoako-Nuama was interacting with District Directors of Education as part of her familiarisation tour of Regional and District offices of the Ghana Education Service (GES). The Minister who was accompanied by a Deputy Minister of Education, Mr Kwabena Kyere, and Mr Solomon Obeng, Director-General of GES, referred to negative reports about teachers and urged them to change for the better. "Public perception of our teachers would only change if we check rampant absenteeism, lateness, drunkenness and non-performance."
