The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has disclosed that the revised education curriculum will be heavy on science and technology.
He made this disclosure in a meeting with Doron Avni, Vice President of Google in charge of Government Affairs and Public Policy in Accra.
The minister highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing the study of technology and the need to equip the next generation to be prepared and abreast with today’s world of technology.
The meeting with Google was aimed at fostering a relationship with one of the world’s leading technological firms to meaningfully impact Ghana’s Educational Sector.
The Google Vice President, Doron Avn, announced the conduct of research aimed at using AI to deal with Ghana’s flood challenges, a move which was endorsed by the Education Minister.
Hon Haruna Iddrisu informed Doron of his Ministry’s excitement over the relationship, which will aid in Ghana’s education reform, which targets the study of technology right from the basic level.
“We intend that in our revised curriculum from Kindergarten to Junior High Schools, we will introduce robotics, electronics, coding, and AI into early childhood development,” Haruna Iddrisu said.
The Minister also pledged his readiness to facilitate the setting up of Google Research Centres at KNUST, the University of Ghana, and Ghana Telecom University.
