Breman Asikuma (C/R), June 15, GNA - The Chief Director of the Ministry of Education Science and Sports, Mr. Ato Essuman has announced that syllabuses for the Education Reform programme will be ready in schools before the it takes off in September this year. Mr Essuman, who is also a member of the Council of State said the Ministry had decided to hold a consultative forum on the suitability or otherwise of the syllabuses which were being prepared at the Ghana Education Service Staff Development Institute (GESDI) at Ajumako before they got to the schools.
He made the announcement at a meeting with some stakeholders on education at Breman Asikuma to brief them on preparations being made by the Ministry on the take-off of the reform programme. The Chief Director said the syllabuses were approved by a forum of experts on education, they would be supplied to publishing firms for them to produce the requisite books for the schools. He gave the assurance that funds would be made available for the publishers to fast track their work.
Mr. Essuman said, in order to lay emphasis on the importance the government attached to science in national building, all science centres and laboratories would be rehabilitated and equipped. He said the Ministry had decided to put up permanent structures for 3,200 schools reported to be holding classes nationwide under trees within three years.
