Education is important for unity and development

Adaklu Kodzobi (V/R), July 2, GNA - Mr Vincent Tefe, Adaklu Anyigbe District Director of Education, on Friday said the importance of education in achieving unity and development could not be overemphasized.

He explained that education propels society to build a strong human capital base that is the catalyst for economic growth. Mr. Tefe was speaking at a durbar, organised by National Union of Adaklu Students and Associates (NUASA), on the theme: 93Enhancing Unity and Development through Education=96the role of NUASA", at Adaklu Kodzobi.

It was to climax a three-week teaching in basic schools in the Adaklu Traditional Area by NUASA members. Mr. Tefe said education was the most effective way of shaping values, attitudes and behaviours of individuals. Mr. Michael Adzaho, the District Chief Executive, said the assembly was working hard to promote teaching and learning in the area, and appealed to all stakeholders to support education. Dr. Samuel Buame, a lecturer at the University of Ghana, and patron of the association, appealed to parents to be committed to the education of the children.

Mr Manfred Clark Dzakumah, outgoing president of the NUASA, said the association, which was formed in 1989, would continue with its voluntary teaching in basic schools in the area, to promote education. Togbe Dzegblade IV, Chief of Adaklu Kodzobi, called on the people to support the association to achieve its objectives. The new executives of the association sworn into office included Mr. William Dogbeda Agbesi, President, Mr. Justice Sena Amanfu, Vice president, Ms Melody Edem Egbadzor, General Secretary and Mr. Richard Tefe, Assistant Secretary. The rest are Mr. Senyo Ntumi, Treasurer, Mr. Bright Kunu, Financial Secretary, and Mr. Francis Apasu, Organizing Secretary.
