Mr Jacob Kor, acting Director General of Ghana Education Service (GES), has urged teachers to continue to do their best for the development of their pupils.
He said “no child is useless, dumb or unintelligent, it is how you apply your quality teaching skills that make your pupils… love learning or fear to come to school”.
Mr Kor said this when he met district directors, head of schools and the Regional Director of Education to discuss how education could be improved particularly at the basic level.
He said despite the perceived low remuneration of some teachers, it is imperative that all teachers adhere to the terms of their contract and deliver.
Mr Kor said he is unhappy that many teachers have turned the classroom into their private learning halls and only bombard the children with copious notes with little or no explanations.
He urged the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools to see themselves as middlemen in the job market saying “be practical and dialogue with your students”.
