Kumasi, May 1, GNA - A three-day workshop on education sector annual review for the Ashanti Region has ended in Kumasi with a call on stakeholders in education to complement government's efforts to ensure quality education in the country.
The workshop attended by Directors of Education, District Chief Executives, assembly members, religious and traditional leaders, was aimed at accessing overall educational status in the region, consolidate achievements made during previous years and identify challenges and actions for the ensuing years.
Mr. Osei-Assibey Antwi, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in a closing address, said education was the pivot around which the development of a nation was built and therefore the government would continue to provide logistics to ensure efficient education delivery and management.
He was of the view that the workshop had helped to enhance accountability and transparency among the stakeholders and facilitated information sharing.
Mr. Osei-Assibey assured them of government's support to turn their weaknesses and threats into opportunities for them to be able to train the youth to assume responsible positions in future.
Mr. Joseph K. Onyinah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education, said the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports had drawn up an educational plan for implementation which will serve as the framework for the country to meet its commitment to achieve its Millennium Development Goals.
