Edumadze inaugurates 318 million-cedi school block

Breman Kokoso (C/R), March 29, GNA- Mr Isaac Edumadze, Central Regional Minister, on Monday inaugurated a four-unit classroom block valued at 318 million cedis for the Breman-Kokoso community in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District.

The Philomena Gaisey Stitching Foundation a Netherlands-based Non-governmental organisation and the District Assembly jointly financed the project, which replaces the dilapidated school block.

Mr Edumadze said it was imperative for parents to constantly interact with the school authorities to learn at first hand the progress of their children.

He called on parents to take advantage of the facility to enrol their children.

Mr Sampson Anfako, District Chief Executive, said the District Assembly was spending more than 70 per cent of its budget on education while sponsoring the education of over 80 teacher trainees.

Mr Matthew Acquah Gaisey, Local Chairman of the Foundation said the NGO was taking care of the health needs of some pupils in the District while plans were underway for the construction of a six-unit teachers' quarters.

Nana Amoakwa Buadu VII, Omanhene of Breman-Asikuma Traditional Area appealed to the youth in the area to form blood donation clubs to donate blood to the District Hospital.

An appeal for funds in aid of the school yielded 8.8 million cedis. In another development, Mr Edumadze had inspected works on the surfacing of the five-kilometre Brakwa-Odoben road at the cost of 3.8 billion cedis.

Mr Edumadze commended the contractor Messrs 'Big Aidoo' Construction Company limited for the efficient execution of the contract and said this was what the Government expects from all contractors.

He however expressed dissatisfaction with the work another contractor, Messrs Du Pon was carrying out on the Asikuma township road at the cost of 2.1 billion cedis.
