The District Chief Executive [DCE] of Effiduase-Asokore has become a ‘thorn in the flesh’ for the people of her district with her activities which has been highly condemned by chiefs of the twin-towns including the Member of Parliament for the area.
Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo is in the hot waters again after having a near bout with the 78 years old Mponuahene of Asokore Traditional Council.
According to Nana Aquante in an interview with Peacefmonline.com, the DCE, Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo with a clenched fist pushed him after a heated argument on whether Member of Parliament [MP] for the area, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie should be involved in opening a health facility in OKaikrom a suburb in Asokore township.
The chief confirmed that the hardworking MP “completed and furnished” the facility which was started by late former MP, Mrs. Grace Coleman in 2007 – but Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo insisted that he [Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie] should not be “allowed or invited” to officially commission the facility.
“It’s a magnificent maternity block which has been completed by Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie for the community to serve the entire township and its environs. We have scheduled a date to officially open the facility for the public but the DCE insists we shouldn’t allow the MP to open the facility he completed and furnished, how possible?” He questioned
Adding that, “my disagreement led to a near bout. The DCE pushed me and I nearly fell on the floor.”
However, a high-powered delegation from the New Patriotic Party [NPP] in Effiduase-Asokore has visited the chief’s palace to apologise to Mponuahene, Nana Aquante and the Asokore Traditional Council on behalf its DCE, Madam Mary Boatemaa Marfo for the unfortunate incident.
