Winneba, April 26, GNA - The citizens of the Effutu-Awutu Traditional Area on Tuesday appealed to the Central Regional Minister, Mr Jacob Arthur, to help resolve once and for all the long-standing Effutu chieftaincy dispute.
They made the call at a durbar organised in his honour by leaders of "Oman", one of the chieftaincy factions. "The entire Effutu State urgently requires peace and unity to enable it to forge ahead in development," they asserted after Regional Minister had asked them if they really wanted peace.
Mr Arthur called for understanding and support from all sections of the disputing parties, saying without this, it would be difficult for anyone to secure a lasting solution to the problem.
In finding an amicable settlement, he said, both parties would have to make some sacrifices so that they could arrive at a compromise. On behalf of the people, Nana Gyan Kumah, Adontenhene of the area, expressed his appreciation to the Regional Minister for honouring their invitation.
He gave the assurance that he and his people would continue to support the government in its efforts at bringing peace and development to the Effutu Traditional Area .
This is the second time in three weeks that Mr Arthur has visited the area since he assumed duty a few months ago.
