President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has implored Muslim youth across the country to celebrate this year’s Eid-ad-Fitr festival in moderation.

After a successful 29 or 30-day period of fasting and prayer, Muslims are celebrating Eid-al-Fitr today, Monday, June 26.

Muslim youth on this day make merry and organise street carnivals across the country. In most occasions, they ride motorbikes at top speed carelessly as part of the merry making which sometimes lead to accidents and various degree of injuries.

To this end, while congratulating Muslims for a successful fast, Nana Akufo-Addo said although they have the right to make merry, they should do so in moderation to avoid any accident.

Addressing Muslims at the Back Stars Square to mark this year’s Eid-al-Fitr celebration on Monday June 26, he said ““We have a right to make merry and celebrate but let us celebrate and make merry in moderation and I’m praying for a travel free and accident free Eid celebrations.”

The President further called on Muslims to let the spirit of friendship, brotherhood, and love that characterised activities in Ramadan continue to influence their relationship with their fellow Ghanaians throughout the year.

He was hopeful that if Ghanaians would hold on to the values of patience and piety, Ghana would be better by the next Ramadan.
