Tema, May 15, GNA -- As the world celebrated mothers' day on Sunday May 14, eight-year old Master Desmond Hattor is seeking to re-unite with her mother.

He has vowed never to stay with his father, Mr. Richard Hattor, 37, a motor spare parts dealer at Ashaiman if he did not locate the mother. The boy has therefore, for the past seven months Desmond taken refuge with the Tema Office of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DVVSU) formerly WAJU, staying with one of the personnel, Corporal Rita Torbigah who has now become his foster mother.

She said Desmond refused to go home with his father when he was traced and preferred to stay there until he found his mother. ASP Nyamah said the father provides the boy's daily remittance for feeding and picks him to school at Ashaiman and back which has become a routine work for him.

She said Mr Hattor, who has since not married again told the Unit that the mother abandoned Desmond when he was two years and has since not set eyes on her.

She indicated that Desmond, who was humble initially has started playing truant and even eluded the father when he took him to the hospital, but he has been found and is currently putting up with his paternal grandfather in Ashaiman.

The ASP said the Unit is inviting relatives of the mother through Mr Hattor to reunite with Desmond to "enable him have his peace of mind to learn".

Desmond, told the GNA, "my father provides me with everything, and even prepares food and we eat together, I watch television and read my books but still I want to see my mother", he demanded.

He however, stated that "he started being harsh on me when I started been stubborn".
