Kumasi, July 20, GNA - About 18 farming communities in the Amenfi Central constituency have threatened to use every means possible to prevent political campaigns in the area, unless the 50-kilometre road linking them with Sefwi-Bekwai is put into good shape. They would also not allow any timber truck in the area to transport timber.

The communities included Kyeikrom, Sompre-Junction, Sompre, Kwaku-Boa, Dwete, Amoadakrom and Bonsiekrom.

The others were Tuntum, Beposo, Mafia, Kwasikrom, Camp, Sunkwa, Kokodie, Samfifire and Kofi-Gyan.

Mr James Tetteh Kwao and Mr Sampson Collin Ofori, both assembly members for Sompre and Kwaku-Boa and Ali Mohammed, the Area Council secretary, jointly told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Monday that the area could no longer bear with the neglect.

They claimed that sick people in the area were not able to receive proper medical care as drivers had refused to ply the road owing to its terrible nature.

"The few drivers who put their vehicles on the road also charge abnormal fares".

They said the food crops they produced in large quantities as well as cocoa and oil-palm fruit were locked up and could not be transported to the market.
