Accra, Sept 8, GNA - Yaa Alamasi, an eighteen-year-old unemployed who allegedly stole money from her guest's room and bolted in the night was on Tuesday arraigned before a Circuit Tribunal in Accra, charged with stealing.

She pleaded not guilty and was granted 500,000 cedis bail, to re-appear on October 19. Police Inspector James K. Adu told the Tribunal chaired by Mrs Elizabeth Anderson Yeboah that the complainant, Mr Daniel Holomah is a Marketing Officer residing at Asylum Down, while the accused lives at Kwame Nkrumah Circle area in Accra.

He said on August 19, this year, Mr Holomah saw Alamasi in his friend's drinking spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle. They engaged in conversation and later Mr Holomah took her to his house to pass the night.

The prosecutor said while he was asleep, Alamasi searched the room and found 200,000 cedis, which she took and bolted. When the complainant woke up at about 1.00 AM, he did not see the accused in the room and realised that the amount had been taken away.

Inspector Tawiah said with the assistance of Mr Holomah's friends, Alamasi was arrested on August 28 and sent to the police station where she admitted in her statement that she took 20,000 cedis and not 200,000 cedis as alleged.
