Ejisu-Juaben residents unhappy about NHIS operations

Ejisu (Ash), April 27, GNA- Residents of Ejisu-Juaben District have expressed dismay at the way and manner the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) is being operated in the area.

They mentioned delays in issuing identity cards, poor human relations by some officials of the scheme towards the people and the lack of information on the scheme as some of the problems that had contributed to the inefficient running of the scheme in the district. The residents expressed these sentiments at a meeting with Mr Akwasi Osei-Agyei, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister at Ejisu. The meeting was to offer the Deputy Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ejisu-Juaben, the opportunity to interact with the people and explain government policies and programmes as well as parliamentary activities to them.

Mr Osei-Agyei, reacting to the concerns of the people, appealed to the management of the scheme in the district to intensify their public education campaign to win the confidence of the people. He promised to contact officials of the scheme to find out their problems and seek possible solution to encourage more people to register.

The MP further charged the people to endeavour to register with the scheme in order to benefit from affordable health care delivery for themselves and their families.

Mr Osei-Agyei appealed to the people to expose criminals in the communities to promote peace and security in the district.
