Cape Coast, Dec.4, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Saturday said this year's elections would consolidate the establishment of true democracy in Ghana.
He said the 2000 Elections was the first in the country's history to change a government through the ballot box and the 2004 elections would consolidate that change through the ballot box in a peaceful, free and fair manner to establish true democracy in Ghana.
"Nobody could use any unorthodox means to wrest power from the people anymore in Ghana", he said.
President Kufuor was addressing members, supporters and sympathisers of the Central Regional Branch of the Party at a rally held at the Chapel Square at Cape Coast.
He said the massive support he had received after he had toured the country indicated that the Ghanaian electorate would vote with their conscience and not through any inducement.
President Kufuor said the only credible Party contesting Election 2004 was the NPP because some of the political parties had not prepared adequately while in the case of some parties their supporters did not know who was the actual person contesting as their Presidential Candidate.
He asked Ghanaians not to vote for a puppet and pledged the commitment of the NPP to ensure that the peace, unity and prosperity Ghanaians were yearning for under "Positive Change Chapter Two" was attained when its mandate was renewed.
The NPP would climax their campaign for the elections with a rally at the Indafa Park at Mamprobi in Accra on Sunday, December 5.
