Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has called on Ghanaians to assist the police in identifying individuals who may attempt to disrupt peace during the upcoming December 7 elections.

Speaking to the Assemblies of God Church members in Accra on November 24, 2024, Dr. Dampare emphasized the crucial role of community involvement in maintaining law and order.

“We may not reach everybody, so what it means is that there could be a few others who still think that they can make an attempt to disturb the peace of this country,” he explained.

He also encouraged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

“Those people, you may be in the community, you may hear of them, you may see them. Our prayer is to allow yourself to be used as a vessel of God to let us know those people so that we will give them a place that has been designated for them,” he said.

Reassuring the public about the readiness of the police, Dr Dampare noted that steps are already in place to address potential troublemakers.

“As we speak, the police cells have vacancies, the prisons have vacancies. So that proactively we move them out of our community and keep them where they want to be kept so that we continue to live our lives to the fullest during the rest of the election period and beyond,” he said.
