The Municipal Electoral Officer of Tarkwa Nsueam, Mr. Kwaku Owusu Addo Asamoah has indicated that the Electoral Commission (EC) will re-register 822 people who registered at Akoon Nzemafokrom and 'Compound One' polling centers in the previous biometric registration exercise.

He said the exercise had become necessary as the EC could not trace the voters register for 682 people who registered at Akoon Nzemafokrom and the remaining 140 names did not appear in Compound One voters register.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, the Municipal Electoral Officer said to ensure that everybody who qualified to vote in the upcoming election was not deprived of the right to exercise their franchise, the EC had set aside October 10-14 for the five-day re-registration exercise.

Mr. Asamoah said the EC will adhere strictly to the number of people who registered in the previous exercise, and encouraged all those affected to bring along their voters identity cards on the day of the exercise.

He expressed gratitude to those affected for their patience and said they should take advantage of this exercise to ensure that their names were captured in the new voters register.
