An elephant, which went on rampage at Salaga in the Northern Region, killing two people, has been killed. The animal, which broke loose from a nearby reserve, attacked and killed two farmers and injured two others who are currently on admission at the Salaga Government hospital.

The overload of Salaga, Kpembewura who confirmed the story told JOY FM that he was forced to organize his men to kill the elephant after news got to him that the stray animal has killed a farmer. Before the men gunned down the elephant, it killed a second farmer. The deceased were on their farms.

Earlier the Salaga Police told JOY FM that they had sent message to the Damongo Game and Wildlife to come over and restrain the animal, but this could not materialize as hunters on the orders of the chief had already killed the elephant.
