Bawku (U/E), April 29, GNA - Eleven out of 1,761 registered candidates for this year's Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) in the Bawku Municipality, failed to turn up for their papers. No reasons have been assigned for their absence except one boy who was reported to have died about two months ago.
Alhaji Ibrahim Kobilla, Municipal Education Officer for Exams, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said six out of the 11 were girls.
Alhaji Kobilla said the exams, was successful without any incident of poor supervision or cheating.
He commended the invigilators for effective supervision and the pupils for their maximum cooperation that contributed to the smooth conduct of the exams.
The examinations came to an end last Friday with the French paper.
Despite fact the municipality is bordered by two French-speaking countries, Togo and Burkina Faso, only 91 pupils from 3 schools wrote the French paper.
