Ellembelle District in focus

Calved out of the Nzema East Municipality in 2008, the Ellembelle District has fast developed placing the economic status of the district and its residents on a high pedestal.

Though remotely located, the district’s road network has been well developed and this has made the district more accessible. Old roads like the Teleku Bokazo Nkroful road and Alabokazo to Eikwe are being expanded and rehabilitated with new ones under construction.

The Atuabo Gas Processing plant, a 150 million metric standard cubic feet plant is situated in the district further raising the prospects of the district as well as providing employment for people.

On health, great strides have been made with the completion CHP compounds in very remote area such as Nyame-Bekyere. In addition, Aya Community Centre is an elder care facility located in the district to provide holistic healthcare for the aged as well as serve as a recreational Centre for the youth.

Ellembelle District is endowed with a lot of rivers and wetlands and can also boost of the cleanest beaches along the Ghanaian coasts. The birthplace of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Nkroful houses a Museum in his honour further booming the tourism prospects of the area.

According to the Member of Parliament, Hon Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the district can be described as the tourism hub of the country as the people are hospitable and understand where they are placing history.

The district is also making strides in terms of education to encourage skills development for the enormous commercial activities in the area.

In an interview with the District Works Engineer, Mr. William Teye Kpoti believes that the district is a promising one and this is born from the kind of infrastructure it is currently hosting.

The district has released a promotional documentary titled Ellembelle in Focus to better tell the story of this promising district to the world.
