Emmanuel Agyarko’s widow drags his brother and two others to court

Josephine Naana Agyarko, the first wife of the late Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, has dragged three people to court.

According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, the defendants in the case are former energy minister, Boakye Agyarko, and the two other widows of the deceased man, Lydia Alhassan and Eva Essabaela Mends.

The writ of summons, dated Wednesday, December 12, 2018, revealed that the plaintiff was blessed with two children with the deceased MP.

She added that defendants have conducted themselves in ways that are meant to deny her the due recognition as the widow of the deceased.

She added that she also deserves an opportunity to mourn the loss of her husband.

The case is, however, to be heard on January 16, 2019, which is a week to the burial date of the former lawmaker.

Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko in November 2018, died at the Yale Hospital in the United States of America (USA) after his family authorized euthanasia.

Euthanasia or “mercy killing” is an easy or painless death or the intentional ending of the life of a person suffering from an incurable or painful disease or injury at his or her request or sometimes by the request of his family.

Upon a visit by a delegation from Parliament to commiserate with the family, Boakye Agyarko said his brother’s untimely death resulted from acidic reflux and malignant gallbladder infection.

He revealed that his brother has been battling with the disease for the past three months and had to be flown outside the country due to the deteriorating health conditions.

According to him, medical officers at Yale University Hospital tried to treat his brother’s condition to no avail.
