The Emmanuel Family Assemblies of God Church, Golf City Branch, Bethlehem, Ashaiman, held an inaugural ceremony in honour of their incoming minister, Reverend Isaac Nii Adjei Smith, and his family.

The ceremony brought together ministers of God from the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, and other ministers from different denominations.

In his sermon, Rev Andrews N. Awintia, Assemblies of God Regional Superintendent, Greater Accra East Region, titled “Challenge of the Faith of Our Fathers”, said that being a member of the Kingdom of God is full of challenges, which Christians need not run away from but remain steadfast in the midst of.

He said that Christians should be mindful of the things they say when they go through difficult moments and that one has to stay focused and faithful to God.

Rev Awintia urged the incoming minister, Rev Adjei Smith, to always “focus on tomorrow” because “most big churches we see today started very small” and that his small beginning can become great only if he works hard and plans properly today.

Rev Nii Adjei Smith is married to Georgina Adjei, and they have two children, namely Emmanuella Adjeley Adjei and Mirabel Adjokor Adjei. He was born on 18 June 1980 to Emmanuel Adjei and Madam Oforiwaa Doris at Tema Newtown.

Rev Nii had his basic and secondary education in the Ashanti Region. He studied electrical engineering after his secondary education and secured a job as an electrical engineer at GAFCO.

He enrolled at the School of the Word in Kumasi, where he obtained a diploma in theology in 2006. Upon completion of his ministerial training, Rev Nii served in various branches of the church in Sunyani, Fiapre, Techimantia and Bechem with hard work and dedication.

Due to his zeal for the Lord, while serving with House of Faith Ministries, Rev Oduro Bechie recommended that Rev Nii join Assemblies of God, Ghana, and wrote a letter of recommendation to Rev Joseph Hammond of Solid Rock A/G Kubekro No. 2, who duly accepted him.

He humbly served Rev Joseph Hammond and demonstrated a high level of zeal, commitment and dedication. With the help of Rev Hammond, Rev Nii started a church, the True Vine Assemblies of God, in Kubekro No. 1.

He then enrolled at the Northern Ghana Bible College (now Assemblies of God, Ghana Theological and Missionary Seminary, Northern Campus), where he obtained a diploma in theology in 2013.

Again, by the workings of the Lord, Rev Nii was transferred to True Vine Assemblies of God and Shiloh Assemblies of God Church, respectively, and later to Emmanuel Family Chapel Assemblies of God to continue his work of ministry.

In his speech, the outgoing minister, Rev Emmanuel Osei Owusu, wished the incoming minister, Rev Adjei Smith, well and prayed for God’s guidance, protection and wisdom in continuing from where he ended.

He also charged the members to give the incoming minister all the necessary support to succeed in winning more souls for the Kingdom of God.

He advised the youth to take a keen interest in learning a trade and ICT, since that is the new way of life.

Rev Isaac Adjei Smith, the incoming minister, said that calling is a challenge and men of God should not think everything will be easy when they serve in the Kingdom of God.

He believes ministry is a process and that gold went through fire before it became precious; therefore, the youth and the members should never give up in times of difficulty but rather believe in God and in themselves.

He thanked Rev Osei Owusu for his kind gestures in welcoming him and his family to Emmanuel Family.
